Artist : Kim Joon

Joon is a Korean artist who is intrigued by bodies and the images that can be placed on bodies, either physically (like tattoos) or digitally.

I am really intrigued with the artist’s treatment of the human body, it seems to forgo the usual boundaries of the flesh, including completely irradicating them and penetrating the form with other body parts. This treatment is both subversive, but is treated in a very aesthetic manner, especially when using body parts  that resemble ceramics. Other works again fragment the body, and reconform it into new forms. These body morphisms are very intriguing, as they avoid the grotesque/abject, despite how I feel that they should become grotesque/abject.
